Ending Concentration Camps and Protecting Human Rights

ICE detention has passed 60,000 people while the agency cut its own inspection schedule and stripped minimum pay for detainee labor, forced labor the Constitution's narrow exception, which only covers convicted criminals, never actually permitted. Lydia will push to require minimum wage for detainee work, restore mandatory inspections, stop federal facility purchases designed to dodge state oversight, and fully fund independent Inspector General review.

Ending Medical Neglect in Michigan Prisons

Khaira Howard died in Michigan's only women's prison from a blood clot in her lungs. Black mold infests the facility. Lydia will push federal legislation establishing minimum healthcare standards under the Eighth Amendment, condition federal prison funding on independent medical decision-making, investigate DOJ enforcement of civil rights law, and support federal litigation holding states and contractors accountable.
