Protecting Inclusive Marriage Equality

Lydia believes the government has no business licensing love. Marriage is a commitment between consenting adults and in a free country the state's role ends at enforcing the agreements people choose to make. Until that day comes, Lydia will fiercely defend equal treatment under the law as it exists: she will oppose any effort to make gay marriage illegal, and she will fight to ensure that no federal benefit or recognition ever depends on a bureaucrat's judgement about anyone's intimacy, a doctrine that has no place in law and discriminates against asexual individuals and non-sexual partnerships.

Policies on this page are living documents. Lydia updates them as research, legislation, and community input evolve. If something here should be sharper, more accurate, or missing entirely, tell her campaign.
