Restoring Food Safety

The Trump administration cut FDA's budget and inspection staff, then withdrew the rule preventing salmonella in poultry. At the same time, food safety regulations consolidated production into corporate farms while squeezing out small producers. We restore it.

Rebuild FDA inspection capacity to what it was before the cuts. Let large food operations use private auditors accredited under existing safety standards, with FDA oversight. Keep small farms and direct-to-consumer sales (farmers markets, CSA) out of the compliance trap. Hold the system accountable for actual safety outcomes, not paperwork.

Safety through real oversight, not consolidation.
